Puerto Vallarta: Traditional Culture with a Cosmopolitan Flare

Puerto Vallarta is the quintessential Mexican seaside village - at once vibrant, inviting and magnificent. And for all its traditional character and charm, Puerto Vallarta is surprisingly cosmopolitan.

The combination of beautiful weather, relaxed lifestyle, modern amenities, and access to transportation has inspired increasing numbers of casual visitors to put down roots here. Many foreigners, especially from the U.S. and Canada, live in Puerto Vallarta year-round, while others enjoy the Mexico’s balmy winter months, heading back north come spring.

No matter what your travel schedule or lifestyle, Los Altos Villas is an outstanding and affordable choice.
A Mexican village with something for everyone. From comforts and amenities, to archeological tours and nature hikes, to world class fishing, diving, and golf, Puerto Vallarta has something for everyone. Visitors and residents alike enjoy countless cultural events and exhibits, jungle excursions, and - of course - relaxing days at the beach and exciting nights on the town.

Puerto Vallarta’s modern marina and port attract visitors on cruise ships and yachts from all over the world. The town’s newly modernized infrastructure, friendly atmosphere, unique Old Mexico ambiance, and wealth of activities have long attracted discerning visitors, creating a stable market for high-end rental properties. Los Altos Villas is the perfect alternative to long-term hotel stays, as well as an outstanding long-term investment.   [Top]
Puerto Vallarta has sports at every “level” - from deep sea fishing to mountain biking. Mexico’s temperate year-round climate naturally encourages outdoor sports activities. With world-class golf, tennis, horseback riding, fishing, scuba diving, and more, Puerto Vallarta is an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise.   [Top]
Horseback riding. Lushly vegetated mountains surround Puerto Vallarta, and one of the best ways to explore them is on horseback. Several stables in the surrounding area rent mounts by the hour, and some even offer guided tours.  [Top]
Mountain biking. Another terrific way to explore the mountains and jungle is by mountain bike. A number of companies offer tours tailored to various experience and fitness levels.  [Top]
Scuba diving and snorkeling. Bahía de Banderas has some of the best diving in the world, with stingrays, tropical fish, and brightly colored corals. The best spots are Los Arcos and Las Islas Marietas, with beautiful reefs and underwater caves that are home to a stunning variety of marine life, including stingrays, whales, and dolphins.  [Top]
Sport fishing. Deep-sea fishermen will find excellent fishing in the ocean waters off Puerto Vallarta, including sailfish, tuna, marlin, red snapper, and sea bass. Fishing trips are booked by the hour and can be arranged at Marina Vallarta or at the cooperative on the Malecón. Feeling competitive? Try the Puerto Vallarta International Sailfish Tournament, held annually in late November.  [Top]
